The Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust and RTE presenter Brenda O’Donoghue have announced they will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest time spent on a big wheel on Saturday, 22nd October 2011, at the “Revolver”, Point Village. The record will commence at 10am, in an attempt to break the existing record of 24hours and 8 minutes.
The Trust hopes to raise over €60,000 in funds from the activities taking place during the event, that will go towards supporting patients and their families, who do, or may need a bone marrow transplant. The “Revolver” carries 42 pods in total with over 20 of these pods being sponsored by well know Irish businesses, colleges, and groups from the arts.  Elizabeth Monahan, E.D. of the Bone Marrow For Leukaemia Trust, commented, “We are inundated with enquiries from the public wishing to participate in our record breaking attempt in late October. Funds raised from this record attempt will go directly to helping to maintain vital support for the running of the Haematology Department in St.James Hospital, Dublin, Ireland’s only allogeneic transplant centre. Keep an eye on our website for further details.”
