Barnardos is calling on people from all over Ireland to pull on their hiking boots and join them in the Grand Canyon Challenge.
Barnardos Grand Canyon Challenge 2012 was launched by Barnardos, Ireland’s leading children’s charity, who is calling on people from all over Ireland to pull on their hiking boots and join Barnardos in the Grand Canyon Challenge, a seven day adventure into the heart of the ancestral lands of the Native Americans.
Those interested in this opportunity to explore an amazing landscape carved from rock over millions of years, whilst also raising vital funds to support Barnardos work with vulnerable children in Ireland, can contact Liz Murray on 01-7080480, email trek@barnardos.ie or text Trek to 51444.
In the space of a week the trekkers will cover over 70km and experience the breathtaking views of the Colorado River. They will descend 980m into the Grand Canyon National Park, visit an Indian Reserve, trek across creeks, swim under waterfalls and sleep under the stars!
The Grand Canyon Challenge aims to raise more than €100,000 to help Barnardos, Ireland’s leading children’s charity, continue its work with children in 40 project centres located across Ireland.
