Deputy Chief of Mission to the American Embassy in Ireland, John Hennessey-Niland, today opened the photographic exhibition, “The World Trade Centre…..A New Rising”,  the work of New York based photographer, Joe Woolhead. The Exhibition will run as part of Phizzfest, Phibsborough’s Community Arts Festival, from the 3rd to 11th September 2011 in the indoor hand-ball alley housed behind the Fire Station in Phibsborough.

The Exhibition features the images Joe Woolhead captured when he rushed to the World Trade Centre on 9/11/2001 and documented what he saw.  It also features iconic images of the rebuild which Joe has been officially photographing since the first cornerstone was laid in 2004.

Born and raised in Finglas, Dublin and living in New York for the past 20 years, Joe has worked with some of New York’s premier photo agencies and has been published in the New York Times, Time Magazine, Esquire, The New Yorker, The Daily News and the New York Observer.  His images of 9/11 have been published all over the world.
