Vodafone was yesterday recognised for its contribution to reducing carbon emissions from one of its largest data centres based in Dublin.  Granted by independent, third-party expert TÜV Rheinland, the environmental certificate is awarded to companies which demonstrate excellence towards energy efficiency.  One of the initiatives undertaken by Vodafone in its data centre saved 600,000 kWh of energy per annum, enough to supply the energy of 24 households for one year.  The 5,500 Sq metre data centre employs 74 people and supports applications for IT services.
